Christmas ClassesI love to share my love of quilting and sewing with others. My mission is to make sewing and quilting FUN, while teaching basic skills and short-cuts that enable the student to create a quality project. I am available to teach locally in the Greater Cincinnati/Tri-State area for a series of classes. Or I will travel to your local guild or shop to present a one-day workshop. Here is a listing of the classes and workshops that I have taught.


 

Beginning Piecing - One Day Workshop or 2 3-hour classes

  • Discuss fabric/color selections, rotary cutting, accurate ¼” seam, pressing
  • Choose from one of the following basic quilt patterns – Rail Fence, Log Cabin, Yellow Brick Road

Intermediate Piecing – One Day Workshop or 2 3-hour classes

  • Ohio Star
  • Churn Dash

Machine Appliqué - Three Techniques – 2 hours each technique

  • Raw edge, fusible
  • Invisible
  • Freezer Paper Template

Borders – 3 hour class

  • When to use a border and how to determine border width
  • Proper straight horizontal border application
  • Mitred borders

Bindings – 3 hour class

  • Calculating fabric requirements
  • Cutting and piecing binding
  • Binding application using machine stitching on front, mitred corner technique and hand stitching on back

The Directions Say “Quilt As Desired" - HELP! – One hour lecture/3-hour workshop

  • Lecture consists of demos using my quilts and quilts of others
  • Workshop – one hour lecture, then 2 hours sit & sew

Beginning Adult Sewing

  • Series of beginning classes designed for the beginning sewer or intermediate sewer who wants to refresh basic skills.

  • LEVEL 1 - 4 weeks – Artist/Chef Apron

    • Fabric, threads & pattern selection
    • Basic cutting and construction techniques
  • LEVEL 2 – 5 weeks – Kimono Robe

    • Build on Level 1 techniques
    • Insert sleeves, make a belt, sewing on curves
  • LEVEL 3 – 3 weeks – Basics

    • Zippers, cuffs, pockets, elastic insertion
  • LEVEL 4 – 5 weeks – 2-Piece Pajamas

    • Build on Level 1, 2, & 3 techniques
    • Buttons & buttonholes
    • Minor alterations
