This is another quilt created for a Guild Challenge in 2005. The theme
for the challenge was "Games." I've always liked word games and a
crossword puzzle was stuck in my mind. We also had to use a particular
fabric in the quilt and it had to be a certain size. My solution was to
create a crossword puzzle in the center (which I actually filled in
using a fabric pen) with quilting blocks as the answers to the clues. I
then created each of the blocks in the clues to surround the crossword
puzzle. Can you guess what the theme fabric was? The quilting on this
was basically stitch in the ditch so as not to detract from the theme -
but I did a criss-cross in the black center to mark off the separate
squares. Can you name all the blocks? Once again, my quilt was one of
the 8 voted to go to Paducah and, once again, our guild's entry of 8
quilts was selected to be exhibited in Nashville. Alas, not a winner
again except for the honor of going to Nashville!
